Denzel Washington reprising his role as Robert McCall is an event that was always going to require a trip to the cinema to watch the action unfold on the big screen.

The movie was good overall, I thought it was entertaining and I was pleasantly surprised by the setting. I thought it might feel like one of those cheesy destination action movies but it did not.

The goal was not to have a pretty seaside town in Italy as the backdrop for various action sequences. The goal was to achieve the community feel, the feeling of solidarity.

If we’re going by F Scott Fitzgerald’s 'action is character' philosophy then the third installment makes perfect sense and was a good fit for the franchise.

Through action alone we can see McCall has grown weary yet still has the drive to protect innocents from ‘cancers’/menaces to society.

At times it did feel like I watched the story and the dialogue unfold on fast forward but the gruesome scenes seemed to go on forever.

There was definitely more emphasis on the violence and jumpscares rather than actual story development and character development, especially with the arrival of new characters.

I think it's unlikely that they will bring this franchise back for another movie because even this felt like it was a little bit rushed.
